Genshin Impact turns six years old this month, and HoYoverse is celebrating with a special 6th anniversary event, including multiple free 5-star character rewards.
Simply by logging into the game during the Version 7.1 event, everyone can unlock 10 Intertwined Fate, 1,600 Primogems, and 1 standard 5-Star Character from the following:
- Jean
- Diluc
- Qiqi
- Mona
- Keqing
- Tighnari
- Dehya
- Yumemizuki Mizuki
But the real special treat is unlocking a free, event-exclusive 5-Star Character. You’ll have to work a little harder for this one, by completing the Version 7.1 Archon Quest, “A Rekviem for the Underworld.” Not only can you then unlock one of the following rare characters, you also obtain enough Ascension Materials to level them up to level 60:
- Baizhu
- Nilou
- Varesa
- Tartaglia
- Chiori
- Clorinde
By checking in multiple times over the event, players can also unlock Mora, Hero’s Wit, Dust of Enlightment, and more.
Version 7.1 also adds two new 5-Star Characters, Vesna, and Vodyanitsa.
Vesna is an Anemo Sword-wielder who focuses on damage, and Stellar Swirl. As a supportive Hydro character, Vodyanitsa is the perfect compliment to teams focusing on Freeze or Stellar Swirl.
Vesna’s Patrol Mission is a limited event that offers at least 40 Primogems.
Genshim Impact is a free-to-play gacha game, where players earn (or pay) for a chance to unlock new characters. The anime-infused art style and Zelda-like open world design helped the game popularize the entire genre of gacha action-RPG.
Since launch, HoYoverse has released many smaller and several large content updates, adding entirely new regions, characters, quests, and gameplay systems. HoYoverse has since explored other subgenres within the gacha gaming space, including turn-based combat with Honkai: Star Rail and pure hack and slash action-RPG with Zenless Zone Zero. Their next big games include the creature collector Honkai: Nexus Anima, and the open-world RPG, Varsapura.
