HoYoverse has announced that Genshin Impact Version 7.0 will add the seventh major nation of Snezhnaya to the open world RPG on August 12. The big 7.0 update also adds two new characters, alongside new story quests and events.
The frosty nation of Snezhnaya is inspired by real-world Russia, and represents the Cryo element. It’s a cold country of sparse settlements bombarded by blizzards, and connected by train.
The new Archon Quest tasks players with investigating a catastrophic blizzard, and the resulting energy crisis, as the people depend on Kresnick energy for warmth.
Within Snezhnaya, players will receive a special pair of goggles called the Eye of Graeae. The goggles can call for a train, solve puzzles by fabricating ice blocks, and even unlock a new third-person shooter mode.
The two new obtainable characters are Odette and Alyosha.
Odette is a 5-star Cryo sword wielder, a ballerina-turned-assassin. Her elemental abilities uses her dance skills to buff the party and unleash Cryo blasts.
Alyosha is a 4-star Electro hunter who wields a polearm alongside his hunting dog, Tugarin. Alyosha can buff and heal the party. He’s obtainable for free by progressing through the Archon Quest of Snezhnaya.
The update also adds a new Stellar Glimmer reaction, by combining Anemo and Cryo. The resulting vortex deals Anemo and Cryo damage, and boosts jump height while exploring.
New events include racing trains, target shooting, and new challenge Domains.
Genshin Impact is a free-to-play gacha RPG set in a fantasy world. The game initially launched back in 2020 with only two of the planned seven nations, with each nation representing one of the seven major elements in the game. Since then, the RPG has received major (and minor updates) every year, adding new nations, storylines, and characters along the way.
Snezhnaya is the last of the seven nations, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end of big updates for Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and iOS and Android mobile devices. It’s rated T for Teen.
