HoYoverse announced the date of the next closed beta test for upcoming creature collector, Honkai: Nexus Anima. The closed beta test, nicknamed “Evolution Test,” will begin on July 9 on PC and mobile platforms.
Interested players can register now at the official website. Registration does not guarantee a spot in the beta.
In the Evolution Test, players are plane-hopping travelers who arrive in the hub town known as the Reality Plane. Players will meet characters and factions, and explore the many districts of the town, and beyond.
While it has the Honkai name, the game world and color palette look closer to Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero. But it’s also a creature collector, using what looks like an autobattle/auto-chess combat system.
And it’s a HoYoverse game, so expect free-to-play, high production values, and gacha monetization. MiHoYo’s games have a long tail life; Genshin Impact released back in 2020 and is still going strong, with multiple major content updates each year.
My personal favorite HoYoverse game is Zenless Zone Zero, which oozes style, and fast-paced combat. But make no mistake, these are gacha games that often feel predatory and akin to gambling, as players drop real money for a chance to get the characters and gear they desire.
Honkai: Nexus Anima’s next closed beta test begins July 9 on PC, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices. The Evolution Test will be limited, closed, and include a data wipe at the end. A release date for Nexus Anima has not yet been announced.
