As we wrap up 2025, there’s one ongoing game that really deserves its end-of-year flowers: Disney Dreamlight Valley. After five major updates, over ten new characters, and one major expansion (plus Part Two of last year’s expansion), we’re declaring this Disney Dreamlight Valley’s best year ever.
Now entering its fourth full year in 2026, the ongoing life sim has benefited from an attentive development team with numerous quality of life additions. New features added throughout 2025 include cooking and UI improvements, an Uncrafting Station (courtesy of a wily cat), upgradable storage, more seasonal events, an expanded photo mode, and a huge update to Companions.
Plus, much easier-to-complete seasonal Star Paths, while still retaining fun and worthwhile rewards, including Bonus Rewards, and weekly Routine Duties.
And that’s before we even get to all the awesome new Disney characters!
Let’s take a journey through the incredible year of Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Tales of Agrabah
The 15th major update added one of the most iconic and desired Disney worlds to the Valley, Disney’s Aladdin! The new Aladdin realm was a bit too long and challenging, but adding both Aladdin and Jasmine to the Valley is a dream — not to mention the Flying Carpet as both a glider, and a friendly Companion!
Both heroes featured their own Friendship Quests, and we particularly enjoyed Aladdin’s skills as a, er, thief to test out Scrooge’s security system.
The update also added Tiana’s Slow Cooker. Once players unlock Tiana, they can place her Slow Cooker and queue up recipes for a little Dreamlight. It’s the perfect way to complete those “Cook 10 Fancy Desserts” duties in every season!
Plus, more Floating Islands for extra decorating, additional room expansions and resizing, and the ability to save Premium Shop bundles for when you have enough Moonstones.
Wonderland Whimsy
Arriving in late Spring 2025, the Wonderland Realm instantly became a fan-favorite, with its fun use of the White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Queen of Hearts’ guard cards, and all the whimsical, magical elements of the classic 50s film.
Alice was a given, but we were pleasantly surprised to get Cheshire Cat as a full-fledged Villager! Not only that, but the mischievous cat unlocks an Uncrafting Station, granting players the highly-requested ability to un-make items and furniture to get back some raw materials.
The Garden of Whimsy Star Path featured some of our favorite items to date, including a fashionable Mad Hatter ensemble, and cute Spring outfits for Minnie and Daisy.
This update also marked the first time Dreamlight Valley players saw Star Wars content, featuring R2-D2 and some outfits in the Premium Shop. We’ve yet to see any more, and appreciate Gameloft’s reticence to throwing a bunch of Star Wars stuff into a core Disney animated universe (we love having R2, though!).
Mysteries of Skull Rock
Players who have completed Disney Dreamlight Valley’s main story have been left waiting after a tease involving Skull Rock at Dazzle Beach. The wait was finally over when Mysteries of Skull Rock arrived in June.
The update opened up a Realm-like area full of shadow and light puzzles to catch Peter Pan’s shadow. It’s only available to players who have completed the main story and unlocked The Forgotten — who also got a big update, turning our darker selves into a proper Villager.
Mysteries of Skull Rock also featured a big expansion to Companions, those friendly animals we can “equip” to follow us around. Companions now help gather different materials, and feature their own level progression with mini-rewards. Plus, extra inventory space!
We loved all the pirate styles in the Neverland Star Path — perfect to kickoff Summer! We’d be missing Tinkerbell and Captain Hook, however, though we won’t have to wait too long for the former…
Storybook Vale Part 2
Mid-year unlocked the finale to 2024’s expansion, Storybook Vale. Storybook Vale Part 2 featured powerful whirlwinds and new Snippets as players worked to prevent the Vale Villagers from being unwritten — including Maleficent herself.
After adding Maleficent, players then investigated the disappearance of Princess Aurora, adding one of Disney’s most famous Princesses to the Valley.
Part 2 added new realms to explore, new Snippets to catch, and new Lorekeeper Tales with more rewards. It received a more muted response compared to Storybook Vale’s exciting initial launch, but the Sleeping Beauty characters are wonderful additions.
Emotional Rescue
Inside Out 2 was the highest grossing film of 2024, and this year we finally got the Emotions in our Valley! Well, two of them at least. The Emotional Rescue update added the Inside Out Realm, letting players travel into The Headquarters, and help Joy and Sadness inspire Riley.
In addition to the 1950s-inspired Retro Roadtrip Star Path, this update also expanded Companions even more. Now players can equip two companions at the same time, doubling up on their expanded inventory and item-gathering features. Plus, certain Companions can be assigned to Villagers, such as Pua with Moana and the Magic Carpet with Aladdin.
This update also saw a major overhaul to the Star Path duties, making it far easier to complete the seasonal challenges — especially for new players who haven’t unlocked every character. Plus, new Routine Duties offer weekly challenges (which don’t expire) and a chance to earn even more rewards.
Return to Beast’s Castle
Just in time for the Fall season and spooky Halloween, the Return to Beast’s Castle had players investigating a supposed haunting in the Beauty and the Beast Realm. It leads to Cogsworth and Lumiere joining the Valley, in a fun re-use of an existing Realm.
Both Villagers are perfect for the Valley, with Lumiere’s love of French cuisine (hello, Chez Remy!), and Cogsworth bossy fussy nature.
The Witchful Thinking Star Path was one of the game’s best yet, with fun new witch-themed outfits and furniture packs. We especially love the magical spellbook glider!
This update also added the first Floating Island Festival event, with a haunted island full of fun little puzzles. A new puzzle unlocked each week, keeping players returning to earn unique rewards.
Wishblossom Ranch
Disney Dreamlight Valley’s third expansion, Wishblossom Ranch, released in November, adding a new region with multiple biomes, more Disney characters, and an entire horse-riding system. It was also notable for releasing as a complete story, unlike the staggered releases of the two previous expansions.
Wishblossom Ranch is easily the life sim’s best expansion to date, thanks to its smooth progression, fun areas, and well-designed horse-riding.
Horses are like super-charged Companions, with level up progression that unlocks a big boost to tools, such as digging, watering, and mining. We also get the best of both worlds, with several famous Disney horses (such as Tangled’s Maximus) and our own stable full of custom horses to accessorize.
New characters are an excellent blend of fan-favorites and surprise additions, including Snow White, Tinkerbell, Tigger, and Cruella.
Winter Ball
The final major update of the year added one of the last, but certainly not least, Disney Princesses in Cinderella. As with Tiana, Cinderella doesn’t get her own realm (boo!), but instead is an easy addition after a few quests. Though players must first unlock Fairy Godmother, which is fairly late in the base game’s story.
Cinderella’s castle is absolutely stunning, and we’re obsessed with her castle wall set in the Premium Shop!
The Winter Ball update also added DreamTeams, Dreamlight Valley’s version of guilds. Up to eight players can join together, forming a community where they can share and like photos, and send each other items. Plus, even more improvements to the Star Path, including auto-claiming rewards and tracking all duties.
What does the future hold for our favorite life sim? Earlier this year, Gameloft teased the 2026 road map for the first half of next year, with images of Lady & The Tramp, Pocahontas, and Hercules. Needless to say, we’re incredibly excited to see our cozy little Valley grow even larger.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox, and rated E for Everyone.
