Nintendo revealed more details about upcoming single-player spinoff, Splatoon Raiders, during the Splatoon Raiders Direct showcase. Splatoon Raiders will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23.
In Splatoon Raiders, players will work as the mechanic and kitted-out bodyguard for Deep Cut, a rock band trio in the Splatoon-averse. After crashlanding in the Spirhalite Islands archipelago, you’ll hunt for treasure and defeat waves of Salomnid enemies while trying to fix the plane.
Each island offers different environments and challenges, but all of them feature treasure, and the pesky Salmonid. Salmonid appear in different varieties, including Boss Salmonids and Seasoned Salmonids.
The player squidling can find over 100 different weapons, with multiple levels, power ratings, and rare abilities. Enemy Salmonids can also drop weapons.
Just as with the main Splatoon games, players can also mix and match different gadgets. By collecting gadget parts, players can unlock, customize, and upgrade different gadgets for various boosts and abilities.
Players can also equip three different tanks: Speed Tank, Power Tank, and Tactical Tank. Each tank can equip different gadgets, and encourages different play styles, from moving quickly to deploying turrets.
Despite being made for single-player, Splatoon Raiders will include multiplayer options. Up to four players can join forces together via online or local wireless, and progress the story together. Alternatively, players can request help from other players online — and join other players’ requests in turn.
Splatoon Raiders will also include multiple difficulty options: Tourist, Raider, and Survivalist, and players can swap between them between missions.
Players can also unlock unique outfits by tapping compatible amiibo figures from the Splatoon series.
Splatoon Raiders is out July 23 on Nintendo Switch 2. The Splatoon series is rated E10+.
