Nintendo E3 2019 to Feature Smash Bros. Championship, Nintendo Direct

Posted by | News, Switch | No Comments

Nintendo has revealed their schedule for E3 2019, which takes place June 11 – 13 in Los Angeles, CA. Their show presence will include tournaments for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2, as well as a Nintendo Direct broadcast and Treehouse live stream. Nintendo will also offer its own version of the fast pass – the Warp Pipe Pass.

“We’re starting with some heated competitions and delivering new content the whole week,” said Doug Bowser, president, Nintendo of America. “Whether people are attending the show in person or watching from home, our goal is to provide them with the best possible Nintendo experience.”

Nintendo typically kicks off the official E3 convention by airing first thing in the morning on the first day, and this year will be no different. The Nintendo Direct will air at 9 am Pacific/12 pm Eastern on June 11. Nintendo is keeping coy about the details, but the broadcast will focus on software launching in the second half of the year.

As in previous years, the Nintendo Direct broadcast will be followed by the Nintendo Treehouse: Live event. The live stream is hosted by Nintendo staff directly from the E3 booth as they play through games on the show floor and interview developers.

Nintendo will also host the championship tournament rounds for its two biggest competitive games on the Switch. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Championship and the Splatoon 2 World Championship will take place on Saturday, June 8. Fans can line up to attend live beginning at 8 am Pacific at The Theatre at Ace Hotel. Entry is free but badges are first-come, first-served. Doors open at 10 am and the tournaments are scheduled to begin at 11 am, with Splatoon 2 first followed by Smash Bros. They will also be streamed live via Nintendo’s E3 live feed.

Nintendo’s new Warp Pipe Pass works exactly like a fast pass from a theme park. Attendees can grab a Warp Pipe Pass with a scheduled time, giving them priority to jump ahead in line when their time arrives. Note that to gain a Warp Pipe Pass a Nintendo Account will be required.

E3 2019 will take place June 11 – 13.

Pokemon Sliding into Splatoon

Posted by | News, Wii U | No Comments

Splatfests are one of the great things about Splatoon. These themed events offer a cool way to play the game with lots of other people rather than the basic multiplayer. According the Splatoon tumblr, the next Splatfest will be featuring Pokemon as a way to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue. And, you guessed it, those will be two teams you have to choose from in the event. Read More

Nintendo Miiverse’s Favorite Games of 2015

Posted by | News | No Comments

Nintendo has announced the Miiverse fan community’s favorite games for 2015.

The top three games for each console were voted on by Miiverse users via hashtag, and players were asked to go into detail about why they chose the game they did. Voting started earlier this month.

For Wii U, Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, and Xenoblade Chronicles X came out on top. Splatoon incorporates Miiverse posts into its gameplay, which a lot of players have had fun with, and Xenoblade Chronicles X only came out earlier this month, making it a somewhat surprising win.

For 3DS, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate made it into the top three favorites.

Nintendo Airstream Rolls Through Town

Posted by | News | No Comments

This year the Nintendo Airstream was back on the road to showcase some of the year’s best titles for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Although it looks small on the outside, you’d be surprised at how many Nintendo goodies can be packed inside. The Airstream was decked out in holiday cheer (and fantastic Super Mario Bros. throw pillows that I briefly wondered if I could fit into my purse) to highlight great gift ideas for gamers.
