Last summer, Nintendo revealed Splatoon Raiders, a new single-player-focused spinoff. Thanks to the newly dropped release date trailer, we now know that Splatoon Raiders is launching July 23 on Nintendo Switch 2.
Unlike the main Splatoon series, which is all about competitive team-based battles, Splatoon Raiders is a story-driven game designed for solo players. But it also supports online and local co-op with up to three players.
In Splatoon Raiders, players will create their own custom inkling avatar. This character works as a mechanic with Deep Cut, the pop idol music group introduced in Splatoon 3. But their tour is cut short when they crash land on the Spirhalite Islands.
Splatoon fans can expect to run into familiar enemies such as the Salmonid, and wield a variety of weapons with familiar paint-based attacks and gameplay. Other than that, Nintendo has been characteristically tight-lipped about the upcoming spinoff.
Oh, they did confirm new amiibo figures of the Deep Cut trio: Shiver, Frye, and Big Man.
Splatoon Raiders will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23. It has been rated E10+ by the ESRB.
Previous Splatoon games are available on the original Nintendo Switch. Splatoon 3 launched in 2022, and has since sold over 11 million copies, making it one of the best-selling games on Switch. Not bad for a Nintendo IP that only began a decade ago!
