Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is releasing early next year, but if you pre-order the $40 Early Bird bundle you can jump into the closed beta. The beta begins tomorrow, Nov. 22, on Steam.

Awakened features four fantasy heroes defending against waves of orcs, skeletons, wyverns, and other beasts in the classic action-tower defense gameplay. Players will need to construct traps and defenses and use their abilities to repel enemy forces, as well as acquiring loot, upgrading equipment, and engaging in large-scale boss battles across 15 maps and five game modes.

Like previous games in the series, Dungeon Defenders: Awakened will support up to four players in local and online co-op multiplayer.

“Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is an exciting new chapter for us and we can’t wait to welcome veterans and newcomers alike back to Etheria,” said Augi Lye, co-founder, Chromatic Games. “The journey begins early next year on Nintendo Switch and Steam and we hope you’ll join us!”

In addition to beta access, the Early Bird bundle also includes a Steam key for the Dungeon Defenders 2012 Collection, as well as a digital soundtrack, strategy guide, and artbook.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened will be launching on Switch and PC (Steam) in Q1 2020, and later on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Q2 2020. Note that no matter which platform you pre-order on, the closed beta is only available on PC.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is rated E10+ for Fantasy Violence and Alcohol Reference.
