The latest character DLC for Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 adds the Runaways. The character and level pack adds the characters and a new level from Brian K. Vaughn’s beloved young adult Marvel series. It’s available now for $2.99, or as part of the Season Pass ($14.99).
The Runaways Character and Level Pack adds seven new playable characters from the comic series: Nico, Chase, Alex, Karolina, Molly, Gertrude and her pet Velociraptor Old Lace. The Runaways are a group of burgeoning super-powered teens who find out their parents have formed an evil cult called The Pride. It’s a fantastic series that was recently adapted into a TV series on Hulu.
The new level represents the climactic finale and showdown of the original series, at the undersea Marine Vivarium.
The Season Pass includes all past and future DLC. Thus far it includes three character and level packs: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Black Panther, and Cloak & Dagger, as well as three smaller character packs: Champions, Out of Time, Agents of Atlas.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 launched last fall as the long awaited sequel to 2013 Lego Marvel Super Heroes. It features an all-new story that pits a huge roster of Marvel heroes against the time-traveling shenanigans of Kang the Conqueror. It’s a great LEGO game, though sadly, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s completely devoid of X-Men.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is rated E for Everyone. It’s available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Switch.
The steady roll-out of DLC for recently released LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 has begun. The first major release, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, adds characters and a level inspired by the movie. It’s available now separately for $2.99 or as part of the $14.99 Season Pass.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 adds a new level based on the opening scene from the movie, where the Guardians face off against a giant tentacled alien monster called the Abilisk.
Since the Guardians themselves are already included (and heavily featured) in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, the DLC mostly adds a few variant outfits as well as minor characters from the film, such as Kraglin and Stakar (the latter being Sylvester Stallone’s cameo).
The upcoming DLC for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 will tie in to all the Marvel movies releasing over the next year, including Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. It will also include some TV tie-ins with Runaways and Cloak and Dagger. Most of them will add a new level as well as new characters. Check out the full spread of DLC below.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). It’s rated E for Everyone.
Available On: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
The exact moment I fell in love with Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 happened in the very first level. I control the Guardians of the Galaxy defending Xandar from the villainous Kang the Conqueror. Activating Star-Lord’s special ability prompts him to slip on some headphones and begin rocking out to the excellent 60s and 70s soundtracks from the the two films, licensed music and everything! All the figures around you begin to dance, because how could you not?
The Lego games have remained family-friendly, co-op games over the last decade but vary wildly in quality from buggy, awkward messes to peak couch co-op. The first Lego Marvel Super Heroes was one of the best Lego games to date. The sequel skirts close to being my new favorite Lego game, with amazingly varied level designs and a wealth of fun content – provided you only care about the MCU version of Marvel.
