In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, Hasbro has teemed up with LEGO to produce an 18+ D&D LEGO set. It’s available now, but currently on backorder.

Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale is a large, advanced building set that features 3,745 pieces. It includes six minifigure adventurers and several iconic D&D monsters, including a displacer beast, gelatinous cube, beholder, owlbear, and a rather huge dragon.

The set cleverly incorporates two familiar locations in any D&D adventure: a tavern for gathering the party (and resting between quests) and a ruined castle full of danger.

Combined, the set is 19″ tall and 15″ wide. But LEGO isn’t cheap. This big, licensed set will set you back $359.

The Red Dragon’s Tale adventure is available for LEGO Insiders as well as D&D Beyond members. Signing up for either is free. In fact, you don’t have even have to purchase the D&D set to download the adventure from D&D Beyond. The D&D Beyond link also unlocks a digital LEGO dice set, frames, and backdrops.

The D&D set is part of the LEGO Ideas creation club. Fans submit their projects, and the winning design can become an official set. Red Dragon’s Tale is based on Dragon’s Keep: Journey’s End design submitted by Lucas Bolt.

To further hype the collaborative set and celebrate the anniversary, LEGO and Wizards of the Coast are hosting a special D&D adventure stream. LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Game Night will premiere this Saturday, April 6, at 9am Pacific/12pm Eastern. DM Anjali Bhimani will take players Luis Carazo, Ginny Di, Jordan Scott, and Bolt on an adventure using the D&D set.
