Niantic, Inc, the developers of mobile AR game Pokémon GO, released Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, along with WB Games and published by Portkey Games. Wizards Unite is now free to download in the United States and many countries around the world on the App Store, Google Play, and Samsung Galaxy App Store. You can watch the rather impressive new live action trailer above.
“Today marks the beginning of an incredible journey for fans of the Wizarding World, opening up virtual doorways to remarkable adventures in the world around them,” said John Hanke, Founder and CEO, Niantic. “Everything we’ve learned about augmented reality and real-world game design over the last seven years has been poured into this game.”
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite builds upon Niantic’s wildly successful 2016 augmented reality game, Pokémon GO. Instead of Pokémon Trainers catching Pokémon, you play as new recruits in a wizarding task force called the Statute of Secrecy Task Force. Young witches and wizards hunt down escaping magic that have leaked into the Muggle world by exploring the real world, casting spells, using potions, and encountering magical creatures and artifacts.
The game is free to play but additional supplies can be purchased with microtransactions. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is rated E10+ for Fantasy Violence.
