THQ Nordic has announced that Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is now available for pre-order on Apple App Store and Google Play. The remade platformer will soon launch on mobile platforms.
Epic Mickey was originally released in 2010 on the Nintendo Wii, the rare video game platformer that starred Mickey Mouse — alongside original Disney mascot Oswald the Rabbit. In fact, part of the game’s inspiration was Disney reacquiring the rights for Oswald back in 2006.
The game follows Mickey, who accidentally spills ink all over a model world of forgotten Disney characters, before getting magically transported into that world. Mickey must traverse a dark, twisted world based on Disneyland. There he forms an alliance with Oswald as they fight back against the Blot, which has manifested from the spilled ink.
Mickey uses a magic paintbrush as a weapon to battle the Blot and overcome challenges and puzzles.
Despite the darker tone and story, this is still Disney. Epic Mickey obtained an E for Everyone rating by the ESRB, with Cartoon Violence.
Epic Mickey was remade in 2024 by Purple Lamp with Unreal Engine 4 for PC and modern consoles. The upcoming mobile version of the remake is developed by Snapshot Games, and features optimized touch screen controls and “console-quality aesthetics.”
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is also due to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 6.
