Square Enix and Team Asano (Bravely Default, Ocotopath Traveler) have released The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, a new action-RPG for PC (steam), PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Adventures of Elliot stars the titular hero and his faerie companion as they traverse the world of Philabieldia through four different ages.

Elliot can wield a variety of weapons with different playstyles, and further customize his abilities through equippable magicite. Faie’s magic can be used in and out of battle, blasting enemies, or helping Elliot cross gaps and other areas.

Like Team Asano’s previous titles, The Adventures of Elliot was created with the HD-2D art style, evoking a retro-inspired look using pixelated 2D characters in a 3D world. The gameplay is clearly inspired by classic Zelda games, especially A Link to the Past.

A physical Collector’s Edition is available exclusively at the Square Enix store. The Collector’s Edition, which can be purchased with or without the actual game, includes the original soundtrack, and a desk clock statue featuring Faie.

And hey, if you happen to travel to the Philadelphia International Airport over the next few weeks, you can spot a “Welcome to Philabieldia!” banner that embraces the punny world name.

A Prologue demo is freely available on all platforms, showcasing the first area and dungeon. Save data from the demo carries over to the full game on the same platform. We were quite impressed with the demo when we tried it out last year.

Fans can also check out the first episode of a documentary series about making the game.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is out now on PC, PlayStation, Switch 2, and Xbox, and rated T for Teen.
