Square Enix has released a new Prologue Demo for upcoming action-RPG, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. The updated demo incorporates player feedback from last year’s Switch 2-exclusive demo, and is out now on Steam PC, PlayStation, Switch 2, and Xbox.
The full game is launching June 18.
The Prologue Demo includes the starting hours of the game, including the town, the initial area, and the first major dungeon.
The demo was initially released last year, exclusively on Switch 2 (and I had a total blast with it). In the year since, Square Enix has implemented several features and improvements based on player surveys from demo players.
The full game, and the Prologue Demo, include the following updates and improvements:
- New difficulty levels: easy, normal, hard, very hard
- Increase Elliot’s speed – specifically to the level of a movement-enhancing item, making that piece of gear no longer critical
- Swap weapon’s with a single button press
- Option for switching Faie’s Magic without shortcut menu
- Weapon-specific Magicitie boxes
- Option for automatic Magicite equipping with “Leave it to Faie” option
- Open map with a single button press
“Following the release of the Debut Demo in July 2025, we received an overwhelming number of survey responses, and we sincerely thank everyone who took the time to share their feedback. Here, we would like to share some of the most requested and representative improvements that will be implemented. Your feedback has been reflected not only in the full game, but also in the new Prologue Demo—so we invite you to jump in and experience the updates for yourself.”
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a retro-inspired action-RPG a la The Legend of Zelda. It features the striking HD-2D art style of Octopath Traveler (and the same Team Asano devs), with the world design and equipment of classic 2D Zelda adventures.
Elliot has a faerie companion that helps traverse the world and attack enemies, and he can equip special powers and bonuses called Magicite to customize his abilities and loadout.
The Adventures of Elliot will release on June 18 on Steam PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s rated T for Teen. Pre-orders receive Elliot’s Departure Pack with in-game goodies. A Digital Deluxe Edition includes even more in-game items.
