Capcom is celebrating the one year anniversary of Monster Hunter Wilds with the arrival of the final update to the base game on February 18. But in more exciting (albeit predictable) news, series producer Ryuozo Tsujimito confirmed that a “massive expansion” is currently in development, with details coming later this Summer.
The final update adds the most extreme challenge for veteran hunters: 10-star quests! Each 10-star quest features an Apex monster, as well as an Optional Quest that includes Arkveld and the Apex predators of the Forbidden Lands.
To unlock 10-star quests, players must take on the new Arch-tempered Arkveld quest in the Forbidden Lands. The new quests include rewards for the Gamma armor set, as well as rare talismans, and Gogma Artian weapons.
The One Year Anniversary update runs from February 18 until March 19, and features log-in bonuses, a special supply drop, and a weekly rotation of the Festival of Accord seasonal events. Plus, new Event Quests featuring underutilized monster hunts, and new rewards. One special Event Quest, “Every Hunter’s Dream,” features a unique, fan-created Great Sword and pendant design from the design contest.
All players will also receive a free Character and Palico Edit Voucher.
This year is shaping up to be a big one for Monster Hunter fans. Not only will we learn more about the new Monster Hunter Wilds expansion, but also get our hands on Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. The spinoff creature collecting RPG series makes its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 on March 13. Monster Hunter Wilds fans can enjoy a new transport quest with Rudy the Palico, delivering eggs to pop-up camps for rewards inspired by the spinoff.
A free demo of Monster Hunter Stories 3 is available now.
Monster Hunter Wilds final update arrives February 18 on Steam PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s rated T for Teen.
