After four years of early access, Polish indie studio Mechanistry has announced that beaver-centric city builder, Timberborn, will finally release into 1.0 on March 5. It’s about dam time! (Sorry).

Check out the epic new lore trailer, which showcases the survivalist beavers in the post-apocalyptic world, and narrated by Shaun Dooley (Elden Ring). The trailer will serve as the new intro video to the game.

Over its successful stint on Steam Early Access, Timberborn received seven major updates, adding 3D terrain and water physics, expanding with two different beaver factions, increasing the number of maps, and adding official support for mods with Steam Workshop.

Dedicated fans don’t really have to wait until March 5. The Experimental Branch build has been receiving regular updates as a real-time glimpse into 1.0. Players can switch to the Experimental Branch by right-clicking on the game in Steam, selecting Properties, then Game Versions & Betas.

The 1.0 update provides a rework of the tutorial, updated UI and text, new audio selection sounds, improved camera controls and lighting, and a third new map. The new map, called Spillage, looks quite challenging, with pockets of irradiated areas.

Since it’s initial Early Access release in 2021, Timberborn achieved an impressive, 95% Overwhelmingly Positive user rating. It’s updating to 1.0 on March 5 on Steam, GOG, and Epic Game Store.
