Warner Bros. Games and developer Player First Games announced that fighting game MultiVersus will launch on May 28 as free-to-play on PC (Steam, Epic), PlayStation, and Xbox.

The 1.0 release will add new characters, new stages, improved visuals and online play, and an all-new PvE mode. Watch the official developer update from game director Tony Huynh above.

MultiVersus made waves two years ago when the Smash Bros-like arena fighter released in open beta. The eclectic roster leverages Warner Bros. stable of characters, including Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, Rick and Morty, Velma and Shaggy (Scooby Doo), Arya Stark (Game of Thrones), Gizmo and Stripe (Gremlins), DC super heroes such as Batman and Wonder Woman, and, uh, Lebron James (who co-starred with Bugs and company in the Space Jam reboot).

Though MultiVersus enjoyed some positive reviews and popular success in beta/Early Access throughout 2022 and early 2023, a lack of updates stalled online growth. The beta lasted for two seasons worth of updates. The closure of the open beta in mid-2023 came as a surprise, with many wondering when, if at all, the game would fully release.

Thankfully, it looks like the developers were hard at work integrating player feedback, and rebuilding the game to be a more technical fighter, with better visuals, abilities, and additional content. You love to see it!

MultiVersus is rated T for Teen.
