Asmodee Digital is running its first Publisher Weekend Sale on Steam. The Steam sale features discounts on some for the most popular digital board games, up to 75% off. The sale ends Monday, September 30.

“We leverage our board game DNA, combined with our specific digital expertise to immerse players into amazing stories. We aim at steadily expanding a consistent line-up of premium titles focused on these genres and universes. Because we love to play, craft and publish these kind of games, we aim to get more and more people, partners and players alike on board.”

The sale includes several big board games such as Carcassonne (60% off) and its expansions (40% off), all versions of Ticket to Ride (40-60% off), Scythe (60% off), and Small World 2 (75% off). The most recent Asmodee Digital release, Gloomhaven, is still in Early Access, and only features a 10% discount.

This week Gloomhaven received its next major content addition, adding a fifth playable mercenary, the Tinkerer, and several desired gameplay tweaks.

Asmodee, based in France, is the second-largest publisher of board games behind Hasbro. The Asmodee Steam Sale ends September 30.

Steam Halloween Sale 2018

Posted by | News, PC | No Comments

Every seasonal holiday brings a Steam Sale, but the Steam Halloween Sale is one of the briefest. You can grab horror (and horror-adjacent) games for 20-80% off. But you’ll need to act quickly, the Steam Halloween Sale ends Thursday, November 1.

The obvious emphasis for the Steam Halloween Sale is horror games. You can find older classics like Left 4 Dead 2 (80% off), Amnesia The Dark Descent (80% off), BioShock Remasterd (75% off), and Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines (75% off).

More recent games include Resident Evil 7 Biohazard (35% off), Prey (50% off), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (34% off), Vampyr (33% off), and Friday the 13th: The Game (85% off).

The horror game theme is stretched a bit to include multiple genres with horror themes or content. Examples include rogue-like dungeon crawler Darkest Dungeon (70% off), action-platformer Sundered (50% off), action-RPG Grim Dawn (70% off) and rhythm dungeon crawler Crypt of the Necrodancer (80% off).

Horror games aren’t the only ones on sale, however. Seemingly half the games on Steam are on sale right now, so hopefully you have your wishlist properly set up. Other highlights include No Man’s Sky (50% off), Divinity: Original Sin 2 (33% off), Kerbal Space Program (60% off), Dark Souls 3 (75% off), and The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt: Game of the Year Edition (60% off).

As with every Steam Sale we recommend searching games via Steamdb to track sales history. For example, 33% off is the lowest Divinity: Original Sin 2 has ever been. Useful if you’ve been holding out for the right price.

The Steam Halloween Sale ends November 1.

Subnautica Sale Celebrates World Oceans Day

Posted by | News, PC | No Comments

Digital games on Steam are given sales all the time, but rarely is it for a good cause. The indie developers behind underwater survival game Subnautica, Unknown Worlds Entertainment, are hosting a weekend sale to raise funds for the Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC). The sale ends June 11.

With the sale, Subnautica is currently 20% off, down to $19.99. The developers will donate 15% of the profits to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation. The WDC works to keep whales and dolphins free from human-based threats, such as whaling and pollution. Aquatic mammals are among the most intelligent creatures on the planet, capable of complex social behaviors and self-awareness.

“Subnautica has been incredibly popular with our supporters in the gaming community and the broadcasters and fundraisers who have taken part in our Gamers for Orcas fundraisers, so we are delighted to be working with the team behind Subnautica on a special promotion this World Oceans Day,” said Abbie Cheesman, manager at WDC. “We are so grateful for their generous support of our vital work to help protect our oceans and the amazing marine wildlife that call them home at such a critical time for many whale and dolphin species.”

Subnautica originally launched on Steam Early Access back in late 2014. A little over three years later it emerged with a full release earlier this year to positive reviews. It still boasts thousands of players at any one time on Steam. It’s also available via Xbox Games Preview on Xbox One, and coming to PlayStation 4 later this year.

The WDC sale ends June 11.

Steam’s Lunar New Year Sale Has Thousands of Discounted Games

Posted by | News, PC | No Comments

The Lunar New Year, which celebrates the beginning of the Chinese New Year, is also the time for another Steam sale. The Lunar New Year Sale features thousands of discounted PC games up to 75% off. There’s definitely a missed opportunity here for highlighting dog-centric games, as 2018 marks the Year of the Dog according to the Chinese calendar. The relatively brief sale ends February 19.

Each day new deals are highlighted, though all the discounted games can be found right now. Recent highlights include Wolfenstein II ($29.99, 50% off), ARK: Survival Evolved ($19.79, 67% off), Pyre ($5.99, 50% off), and Cuphead ($16.99, 15% off).

Also hitting Steam at the same time is an update to Wishlists. If your wishlist of games has become unwieldy (as mine has), you’ll appreciate the new sorting options. It works particularly well during a Steam sale, as you can filter by games with 25%, 50% or 75% off. You can also sort if a game is in Early Access or officially released. Finally, you can add games to your shopping cart directly from your wishlist. If games have multiple versions available (like a Deluxe version) then the link takes you to that game’s store page instead.

The Steam Lunar New Year sale ends February 19.
