During Gamescom Opening Night Live, Pawprint Studio announced the release date for free-to-play creature-catching RPG, Aniimo. Aniimo will launch on September 16 on PC (Steam, Epic), PlayStation, and Xbox, and September 23 on iOS and Android mobile platforms.
Aniimo is a free-to-play live service game a la Genshin Impact. As a Pathfinder, players will explore the land of Idyll, which is teeming with magical creatures called Aniimo. At launch, the game includes over 200 Aniimo to find, capture, train, and battle.
Players can include four Aniimo in their current party, and quickly swap between them during battle. In addition to elemental types and abilities, many Aniimo also provide traversal powers such as gliding and swimming. Aniimo also come in different rarities, variants, and advanced evolutions.
The creature collector’s big feature is Twining, where players merge with their active Aniimo companion, directly controlling them in battle or exploration.
As an online game, Aniimo supports PvP and co-op gameplay in certain modes. Using the Homeland feature, players can customize their own home and farmland, harvest crops, and put Aniimo to work generating resources.
I was quite impressed with the game during its closed beta run earlier this year, and twining is a lot of fun, though the world is a little cuter and cozier than I would have preferred.
Although the game is free-to-play, two pre-order packs are available for PS5 and Xbox players. The Advanced Edition ($9.99) unlocks the in-game battle pass, and includes a Prismana Form Aniimo with Perfect Potential. The Collector’s Edition ($19.99) includes additional in-game goodies, including Primegy Battery and an exclusive doll.
Players can also learn lots of rewards at launch by playing through the story and completing events, including exclusive accessories, outfits, and limited Aniimo eggs.
Aniimo is rated E10+ by the ESRB.
