After a false start in open beta/early access from 2022-2023, arena fighter MultiVersus has officially launched as a free-to-play fighting game on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation, and Xbox.
MultiVersus is an arena fighting game, also known as platform fighter, similar to Super Smash Bros. Opponents try to knock each other off an arena in a 2D battlefield.
The game features an eclectic cast of over 20 characters owned or licensed by Warner Bros. Fighters include big names such as Batman, Wonder Woman, Rick, Morty, Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, and Tom and Jerry. There’s also some quirky inclusions such as Gizmo (Gremlins), Lebron James (Space Jam, and, uh, the NBA), and Banana Guard (Adventure Time).
Today’s release coincides with the launch of Season 1: Puns & Villainy. The season focuses on villain characters headlined by the Joker. Jason Vorhees (Friday the 13th) is the most recent addition, while Agent Smith (The Matrix) will arrive later this season.
In addition to standard PvP modes, MultiVersus also features seasonal PvE Rifts. These single-player and co-op missions feature different challenges while earning rewards. MultiVersus also supports 2v2 teams, AI bots, custom lobbies, and local play for up to four players.

MultiVersus is free-to-play on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and it’s rated T for Teen.
