Warner Bros. Games and Player First Games announced that MultiVersus Open Beta will begin on July 26 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and include cross-play support.

MultiVersus is a free-to-play platform brawler. Think Super Smash Bros., but with Warner Bros. characters such as Tom and Jerry, Shaggy, and the heroes and villains from DC Comics. Up to four players battle in free-for-all, 2 v 2 team battles, co-op vs AI bots, or custom lobbies.

The beta will include a tutorials, practice mode, and support for local matches.

The new gameplay trailer (above) revealed the first look at a new character: Iron Giant. Ironically the entire point of the classic animated film was the pacifism of the robot-built-for-war. But here he has no qualms about jumping into the fray alongside Batman, Steven Universe, and Arya Stark.

Iron Giant is the 16th character revealed so far, with more characters coming soon. Each character fits one of five classes, such as tank, bruiser, or support, and features their own special moves.

Players who participated in the closed alpha, as well those who earned Twitch Drops, will be granted Early Access to the beta, beginning on July 19.

MultiVersus is rated T for Teen.
