HoYoverse, makers of popular live service gacha games such as Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, have announced the release date, and final beta date, for their next big online game, Honkai: Nexus Anima. Honkai Nexus Anima will launch in Spring 2027 on PC and mobile devices.
The Final Closed Beta for Honkai: Nexus Anima will begin on November 25. Players can sign up now for a chance to play — though all progress and data will be wiped when the test ends. Sign up for the beta ends November 22.
Honkai: Nexus Anima is HoYoverse’s take on the creature collector genre (aka Pokémon, Palworld, etc). Players take on the role of Animasters and explore across multiple worlds, called Planes. Each Plane is home to powerful creatures called Anima.
The primary gameplay loop involves exploring each Plane, and finding and recruiting Anima, as well as their signature trainers, called Eidos.
In terms of gacha, the Anima are the primary gacha targets, while the Eidos represent their signature weapons.
Combat in every HoYoverse game is different, and Nexus Anima is no exception. The real-time combat is inspired by autobattlers/autochess. A team of Anima automatically attacks and moves on a grid-based battlefield, while players unleash active, targeted abilities from their Eidos.
Between exploring and battling, players can chill at their personal RV home, where they can decorate and interact with their Anima.
Given that Honkai: Nexus Anima has the same series name as Honkai: Stair Rail (and the fifth in the Honkai series overall), players can expect some crossover with the RPG series, including the appearance of Star Rail’s Blade as an Eidos trainer.
HoYoverse is known for their incredible high production value, anime art designs, professional voice acting, and constant flow of major content updates. The studio is also known for producing gacha games, live service online games that promote random in-game items and characters that players can purchase with real money. The gacha game system is often criticized as a form of unregulated gambling.
Honkai: Nexus Anima will release in Spring 2027 on PC and iOS and Android mobile platforms.
