The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon Champions will release as free-to-download with in-app purchases on iOS and Android mobile devices on June 17. Pre-registration is available now.
To celebrate the mobile launch, players can unlock a free Raichu. Simply login and check your in-game mailbox between June 17 and September 2 to receive Raichu, the Electric Mouse Pokémon, as well as the new Mega Evolution Stones, Raichunite X and Raichunite Y. Players can obtain these rewards in either the mobile or Switch versions.
Mega Stones are used to Mega Evolve Pokémon into super powerful forms during combat. Raichu and its Mega Stones will be obtainable through other methods at a later date.
Pokémon Champions launched earlier this year on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. It’s an online-only competitive battler, where players take their teams of Pokémon into a variety of competitive game modes versus other players.
Trainers can obtain Pokémon either by transferring them from Pokémon Home, or acquiring them in Champions. By playing the game and earning VP, players can recruit Pokémon for free. VP can also be purchased with real money. Real money can also be used to purchase a Starter Kit, which includes additional storage space, and unlock the Premium Battle Pass.
Notably, Pokémon Champions launching on mobile devices marks the first time a player can play competitive Pokémon without a Nintendo platform! Champions also supports cross-platform functionality between the mobile and Switch versions. Players will need to login with their Nintendo account to access save data.
Pokémon Champions is online-0nly and free to download. It’s rated E for Everyone with Mild Fantasy Violence.
