THQ Nordic and Purple Lamp announced that last year’s high quality licensed platformer, SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide, is now available on the OG Nintendo Switch.

It’s saying something about Nintendo’s longevity that new games are being actively ported to a decade-old system!

Titans of the Tide stars SpongeBob and Patrick in a new adventure. The Flying Dutchman and King Neptune have turned Bikini Bottom upside down with their ghost-filled war, and it’s up to our heroes to save the day.

This is a single-player platformer where players actively swap between SpongeBob and Patrick. The two characters have unique abilities to overcome challenges, include Patrick’s new skills of grappling and burrowing.

Players will explore familiar locations from the popular Nickelodeon show, including Mount Bikini and Neptune’s Palace, and face off against the titular titans. Fans will enjoy the famous voice acting by original cast members.

Funny enough, I had cheekily complained that Titans of the Tide should have released a bit earlier in the Fall season due to its ghostly theme (it originally released in November 2025).

Purple Lamp’s SpongeBob adventures have been well-received over the years. Titans of the Tide is a follow-up to 2023’s The Cosmic Shake. Both games are spiritual successors to SpongeBob’s original platformer, Battle for Bikini Bottom, which received a remake in 2020 after nearly 20 years.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide is also available on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. There’s also the soundtrack, and an apparently grossly overpriced ‘Season Pass’ DLC. Titans of the Tide is rated E10+.
