THQ Nordic and developer Purple Lamp Studios (along with Nickelodeon) have released SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox ($39.99).

The Cosmic Shake is an all new platforming adventure, designed as a spiritual sequel to 2020’s successful remaster, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated.

Strange portals have appeared throughout Bikini Bottom, leading to different themed realms known as Wishworlds. Time for a platforming adventure starring everyone’s favorite sea-dwelling sponge!

Unlike Battle for Bikini Bottom, The Cosmic Shake shifts the point of view back to SpongeBob as the sole playable character. To compensate, SpongeBob has multiple abilities, and can earn unlockable costumes. SpongeBob’s constant companion, Patrick, has been transformed into a helpful (and still talkative) balloon.

The story features the original voice actors and songs from the classic series, as well as an all new soundtrack from the composers of Battle for Bikini Bottom.

A Costume Pack DLC is available for $9.99, and includes seven unique outfits, including Primitive Sponge, and RoboBob SteelPants. A collector’s edition (BFF Edition, $249.99) includes the game, DLC, and inflatable Patrick, a statue, amulet, bouncy balls, and placemats.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is rated E10+ for fantasy violence and comic mischief.
