During Gamescom 2026, Square Enix revealed a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the third game in the JRPG remake trilogy, and most importantly, the release date. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will release in Spring 2027 on PC (Steam, Epic), PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
The new trailer showcases the Weapons, titanic creatures that awaken to defend the world, while Sephiroth’s schemes threaten to destroy everything while ascending to godhood.
In the original 1997 RPG, Weapons were powerful late-game bosses, and most were actually optional to the main story. In Revelation, the Weapons return as huge boss battles in challenging endgame battles.
By this late stage in the story, Cloud and company can freely explore the planet with their trusty Highwind airship. The new parachute tool lets players drop in anywhere to help defend humanity around the world from the threat of the Weapons, and other conflicts.
The new FITS system unlocks specialized roles a la classic Final Fantasy jobs, such as Black Mage or Warrior, by equipping unique outfits with their own abilities.
Players who have save data from the first two games in the trilogy can unlock special bonus Materia. Save data from Remake Intergrade unlocks Summon Materia: Chocobo & Moogle, while Rebirth unlocks Summon Materia: Phoenix.
Revelation will finish the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, which began with Final Fantasy 7 Remake in 2020, followed by story expansion Intergrade in 2021, and the second full game, Rebirth, in 2024. Originally a PlayStation exclusive, Revelation will mark the first time the series will launch simultaneously on all modern platforms.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has not yet been rated by the ESRB, but previous games in the series were given a T for Teen rating.
