Maze Theory Games have announced Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars, a sci-fi VR adventure arriving this Fall.
Journey Among the Stars tells an untold story set during the end of the 2021 novel and 2026 feature-length film. Scientist-turned-astronaut Ryland Grace must work together with his friendly alien ally Rocky to transport their critical cargo back to Rocky’s home world on Eridani.
In the original story, we skip ahead to the epilogue on the planet, and don’t see the final leg of their journey. The game explores this chapter through mixed reality. Playing as Grace within the Hail Mary, players will identify problems, create solutions, and work with Rocky to use science and engineering to keep the mission successful.
The story was written by Andy Weir, and Rocky is voiced by James Ortiz, the actor and puppeteer who played (piloted?) Rocky in the film.

“Playing Rocky again for the game has been really special,” said Ortiz. “Fans will be able to step inside the world of Project Hail Mary, interact with Rocky using the same character model from the film, and experience a completely new part of his journey with Grace. It is as close as you can get to the cinematic experience, but this time you are inside it.”
Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars will release later this year on Android XR, Meta Quest 3/3S, and PICO. Pre-orders will be available soon.
