The first-ever Pixel Arcadia – The Future of Retro showcase premiered this week. The retro gaming-focused showcase featured eight new game reveals among the dozens of announcements and trailers, including the surprise revival of a cult classic, Terranigma.
Here are all the big new retro game announcements from the Pixel Arcadia showcase.
Terranigma
Developer: Clear River Games (who helped sponsor the showcase)
Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox
Genre: Action-RPG
Release: Early 2027
Originally released in 1995 during the end of the 16-bit era, Terranigma is a top-down action-RPG (a la Zelda, or Secret of Mana), and the follow-up to Illusion of Gaia. However, it was never actually released in North America, and thus gained a cult following for retro game enthusiasts. Clear River Games announced they are releasing Terranigma for modern platforms – though without formally calling it a remaster. The team is supported by the original artist, Kamui Fujiwara, who is providing new art, designs, and feedback.
Blasterbug: Last Bug Standing

Up to 8 players can jump into chaotic matches filled with deadly hazards. Each of the 15 playable bug characters has its own playstyle and special abilities. Several different game modes are available, from last-bug standing, to collecting the most coins or points.
Alien Breed 35th Anniversary
Developer: Antstream
Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox
Genre: Top-down shooter and First-person shooter
Release: September 2026
Alien Breed was a series of top-down shooters from the early 90s inspired by the Alien films (specifically, Aliens), which eventually translated into first-person shooters with Alien Breed 3D in 1995. The 35th Anniversary Collection features the original six games in the series: Alien Breed, Special Edition ’92, Alien Breed 2, Alien Breed: Tower Assault, Alien Breed 3D, and Alien Breed 3D 2: The Killing Grounds. The games include modernized controls and new modes, including online co-op. The Collection will be released by the newly reformed Commodore as a software publisher.
Ninja Jajamaru – Yokai Night Parade
Developer: City Connection
Platforms: Steam PC, PlayStation, Switch 2
Genre: Action-RPG
Release: 2027
A spiritual successor to 2019’s Ninja Jajamaru: The Great Yokai Battle, the action-platformer series can trace its roots all the way back to the 1980s. The new hack and slash action-RPG channels beat’ em up gameplay from the 90s, as well as 90s hip hop style mixed with Japanese folklore.
Infested DX
Developer: Komi Games
Platforms: PC
Genre: First-person Point & Click Adventure game
Release: October 2026
Inspired by classic first-person adventure games such as Shadowgate and Uninvited, Infested DX is a 16-bit remake of the original 8-bit adventure released in 2018 on Itch.io. Infested is a love letter to the genre while providing a new sci-fi setting aboard and infested spaceship filled with danger. Using a very nostalgic interface, players will explore the ship, gather items, and interact with the environment.
Sanitarium Enhanced
Developer: QUByte Interactive
Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox
Genre: Isometric Point & Click Adventure
Release: 2026
Sanitarium Enhanced is an upgraded remaster of the 1998 psychological horror adventure game. Players awaken in a creepy asylum with no memories, and must explore their horrifying surroundings while trying to discover their own identity. The Enhanced version features widescreen resolutions, controller support, speed toggles, and a new hint mode.
Theocracy
Developer: Philos Laboratories
Platforms: TBA
Genre: Real-time Strategy
Release: Q4 2026
A historical strategy game that combined city building with real-time strategy, Theocracy was apparently a bigger deal in Europe when it released back in 2000. Playing as as the native Aztec people in central Mexico, players have 100 years to prepare their people for the coming invasion of the Spanish in the 15th century. The re-release is being updated for modern systems, with new features still to be revealed.
Ninja Baseball League-Man x Bases Loaded
Developer: City Connection
Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Switch 2, Xbox
Genre: Side-scrolling Beat ’em up
Release: December 10, 2026
The trailer (and title) for Ninja Baseball League-Man just oozes 90s gaming nostalgia. It’s an HD remake to the 1993 co-op arcade beat ’em up, Ninja Baseball Bat Man, which is apparently what happens when you turn baseball into a very 90s beat’ em up, with colorful, robot-like players swinging bats at mascots. It was big in Japan, and not so much anywhere else. The new edition adds additional content, and includes special crossover gameplay with classic sports game, Bases Loaded.
