Indie developer Maracas Studio announced that cozy job simulator Cat Mail Co. will release on Steam on July 6. A free demo, which includes co-op multiplayer, is available to download.
Cat Mail Co. is a first-person job simulator game, in a world of anthropomorphic cats. The previous postmaster has mysteriously disappeared, leaving you (and up to 3 friends) to work a backlog of packages.
Running a post office doesn’t exactly sound cozy, but the game reassures a “calm and satisfying experience.” Without any timers or penalties, players can sort, stamp, and organize parcels at their own pace.
By successfully receiving packages and sending them off, players unlock new tools, abilities, and destinations.
The game also features a day/night cycle. The nighttime adds a supernatural bent, revealing hidden secrets within some packages.
Of course, the real question is: can a bunch of cats resist sitting in all those cardboard boxes?
“In an ever-changing and often unpredictable video game industry, we believe there is still a place for small indie games with strong creative vision. With Cat Mail Co., we wanted to offer players a truly relaxing experience, and we hope they will feel the same joy we had while developing it,” said Sophie Schiaratura, Co-founder of Maracas Studio.
The free demo has been well-received, garnering over 50,000 wishlists during Steam Next Fest. The full game launches July 6.
