Indie team Zamarkand has announced Bon Voyage, a cozy idle train game that plays at the bottom of your screen.
Bon Voyage, like Rusty’s Retirement, takes up the bottom portion of your PC screen, allowing you to continue working while your steam train chugs along 19th century Belgium.
Also like Rusty’s Retirement, Bon Voyage is a desktop idler, and meant for a more hands-off approach while you keep working (sure you do). The watercolor landscapes provide charming visuals as the train moves along. You can then jump in and play whenever the train reaches the station, choosing routes to satisfying passenger needs. By fulfilling multiple requests, players can earn combo points.
Players can also adjust the trip length between stations, creating a Pomodoro timer that’s popular with desktop companions.
“With this game, I also hope to share a bit of Belgium’s history with the world. While researching, I was amazed by how profoundly the advent of steam and rail technology changed the lives of Belgians in the 19th Century,” said Farhat Fazeli, developer at Zamarkand. “I think it’s really interesting, and I hope I can share some of it with players.”
Bon Voyage won’t release on Steam PC until Spring 2027. But a free demo is scheduled to release around Gamescom, August 26-30.
