During the recent PlayStation State of Play, Square Enix and Toylogic revealed more details about the first season of competitive arena shooter Foamstars, as well as the roadmap for the next six seasons through the year.

Foamstars is free to download now for PlayStation Plus subscribers, with the first season arriving next Tuesday, February 6.

Season One is called Starry Pop, and adds two limited-time seasonal events, one for solo players and one for teams.

The solo mode is Ranked Party Lonestar, while teams can compete in Ranked Party Tribe-Vibe. By playing and winning these modes, players can progress through seven ranks and earn Rank Points.

For some sillier fun, there are two Extreme Party modes. In All Mel T Party, everyone plays as Mel T, while Invisible Party forces everyone to be invisible, which sounds incredibly frustrating.

On the weekends, players can preview the next season content with Happy Fri-Yay Party, and a chance to play the next new character, Coiff Guy.

Here are the dates for Season One:

  • Ranked Party
    • Lonestar Dates: Friday, February 9, 2024, until Monday, February 26, 2024.
    • Tribe-Vibe Dates: Friday, March 1, 2024, until Monday, March 4, 2024.
  • Extreme Party – All Mel T Party
    • Saturday, February 17, 2024, Sunday, February 18, 2024, and Monday, February 19, 2024.
  • Extreme Party – Invisible Party
    • Saturday, February 24, 2024, Sunday, February 25, 2024, and Monday, February 26, 2024.
  • Happy FriYay Party
    • Friday, February 9, 2024, and Saturday, February 10, 2024.
    • Friday, March 1, 2024, and Saturday, March 2, 2024.

According to the roadmap, future seasons will add new Foamstar characters, skins, maps, and limited-time modes. The first five seasons are pretty light on content, while Season 6 will add new game modes, maps, characters, and season passes. A new season begins every five weeks, which is pretty dang fast.

Foamstars is available exclusively for PlayStation Plus subscribers, on PS4 and PS5. It’s free to download until March 6 as a free monthly game, afterward it will cost $29.99. Foamstars is online-only and requires a PlayStation Plus subscription to play.

It’s rated T for Teen.
