Square Enix announced that multiplayer foam-shooter Foamstars will release on February 6. Like Fall Guys, Foamstars will release as a free monthly download for PlayStation Plus subscribers in the month of February.

Foamstars will be available to download and keep in the PlayStation Plus library for as long as you remain a subscriber. After March 5, non-subscribers can purchase Foamstars from the PlayStation Store ($29.99). The online multiplayer game requires a PlayStation Plus membership, however.

Foamstars is a 4v4 arena shooter where players shoot family-friendly foam instead of bullets. It’s clearly modeled after Nintendo’s Splatoon (with Fortnite’s art style), with PvP and PvE game modes.

The most recent game mode, Rubber Duck Party, was revealed this week. It’s a bit like capture the flag, but with more dancing. In PvE modes, players must defend Bath Vegas against waves of randomized enemy forces.

As a live-service game, Foamstars will receive regular free seasonal updates over the next year, with each season featuring an optional premium season pass ($5.99). Seasons will include new cosmetics, characters, maps, and game modes. Season passes will feature the usual themed cosmetics to unlock.

Foamstars will release on February 6th for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers, and for everyone else on March 5th. It’s rated T for Teen.
