Sony Interactive Entertainment and first-party developer Insomniac Games have released the highly anticipated superhero sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, exclusively on PlayStation 5.

The sequel builds on the original game, as well as the spin-off Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, adding both spider-powered heroes as playable heroes and dual protagonists, while maintaining a single-player storyline.

Built exclusively for PS5, Spider-Man 2 features an expanded version of New York City, adding the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn to the open world.

New to the sequel, players can seamlessly swap between Peter and Miles, each who possess their own unique powers and skills, and fast-travel or swing throughout the city with near-instant load times. The DualSense controller also brings haptic feedback through Peter’s new symbiote abilities and Miles’ bio-electric skills.

“We’re thrilled to finally share the experience of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 with gamers everywhere,” says Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios. “I couldn’t be prouder of Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the studio’s fourth PS5 title within the first three years of the console’s launch and it’s the ultimate showcase of everything they’ve learned developing for PS5. It also exemplifies how premier narrative-driven experiences are at the heart of PlayStation Studios’ DNA.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is available in Standard  ($69.99) and Digital Deluxe Editions ($79.99). The Digital Deluxe Edition includes 10 suits (five for each Spidey), and five additional skill points.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is rated T for Teen.
