Square Enix has announced that upcoming mobile spinoff Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis will release on iOS and Android mobile devices on September 7th.

Square also revealed that the mobile RPG has over 1 million pre-registered users. By reaching this milestone, every player will receive a 5-star weapon Draw Ticket, as well as previous milestone rewards.

There are other pre-registration milestone rewards still to reach. At 1.2 and 1.5 million users, some previous rewards will be doubled, including 3,000 Blue Crystals, 30 Draw Tickets, and two Jumpstart Item Sets.

With all the Final Fantasy 7 content floating around, it’s easy to get lost. Ever Crisis is a new-ish RPG built for mobile devices as a free-to-play RPG monetized with random loot boxes.

That’s probably the last thing Final Fantasy fans are looking for. Ever Crisis retells the original game story (plus Crisis Core) with retro graphics during dialogue, and modern visuals for combat using the classic active time battle system, including Materia, Summons, and Limit Breaks.

The story will play out through episodic updates, starring Cloud and Zack. The mobile game features auto mode and a quicker Battle Speed to hasten the experience, and supports up to 3 party members in co-op battles.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the sequel to 2020’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake (and the second of the planned remake trilogy) is still scheduled to release early 2024 on PlayStation 5.

Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis is rated T for Teen.
