Sony Pictures Consumer Products and developer Illfonic have released Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, a 4v1 multiplayer action game, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox ($39.99).

Spirits Unleashed is set after the games, with veteran ghostbusters Ray and Winston teaching the next generation of spirit hunters. The story features the voice talents of original voice actors Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.

As a fledgling ghostbuster, you’ll wield familiar equipment such as the PKE Meter to find ghostly rifts, and the Proton Pack to capture wayward spirits. By completing missions and capturing ghosts, players will unlock upgrades and cosmetics.

A big twist in this multiplayer game is the ability to play as the ghost! The ghost player will have unique skills and abilities, such as sliming those pesky ghostbusters, and possessing objects. The ghost’s goal is to haunt an area long enough before the ghostbusters can stop them. Ghosts will also be able to progress and unlock new features as they complete their missions.

Although it’s designed for co-op and competitive multiplayer, Spirits Unleashed can also be played solo with AI-controlled allies and enemies.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is available now on PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. It’s rated E10+ with alcohol, comic mischief, fantasy violence, and language.
