Developer Illfonic, along with Sony Pictures, have announced a new multiplayer game based on the Ghostbusters film series. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer action game coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in Q4 2022.

In each match, a player can join a team of four Ghostbusters, or fly solo as the ghost. A Ghostbuster uses items and gear ripped straight from the films, such as the Proton Pack, Ghost Trap, and PKE Meter. Teammates will need to work together to find and trap them ghost before the area gets too haunted.

Ghost players are afforded supernatural powers, such as the ability to fly and teleport to quickly get around. The ghost’s goal is to haunt an area by scaring citizens, summoning minions, and possessing objects.

In the iconic converted firehouse, players can customize their Ghostbuster and their ghost. You can also meet and talk to familiar faces such as Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore, featuring the voice of original cast member Ernie Hudson.

“Ghostbusters is one of the most beloved IPs in the world, so we are pulling out all the stops to make something special and accessible to this diverse fanbase,” said Charles Brungardt, CEO, IllFonic. “If you’re someone who loves the movies or asymmetrical multiplayer games, this was made for you.”

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will launch on PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
