Even living on a tropical island can’t stop the festive fall season from arriving in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A free update is available now, adding pumpkin crops and Halloween costumes to prepare for October 31.

Pumpkin seeds can be purchased from Leif year-round or in Nook’s Cranny during the month of October. Grown pumpkins can be harvested to create new pumpkin-based DIY recipes. You can learn the new recipes from fellow island residents.

At the Able Sisters hop you’ll be able to purchase Halloween costumes, like a mage’s dress, throughout the month. Body paint, colored contacts, and other accessories can be acquired by redeeming Nook Miles.

“For players that have yet to create their personal island paradise in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, now is a great time to get started,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior VP. “Players who enjoyed their islands during the spring and summer will find new ways to play when they experience the new festive activities that fall has to offer.”

After 5 pm on October 31, the Halloween night event begins. Neighbors will gather in the plaza, which will be decorated for Halloween. The czar of Halloween, the mysterious Jack, will also be there. By giving Jack candy you can earn in-game rewards, but you’ll need to share with your neighbors as well.

The Halloween event lasts throughout the month of October. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch.
