The Adventure Sync Hatchathon event has returned to Pokémon GO in January 2020. During the event you’ll gain extra rewards from from hatching eggs, which is done by recording steps in Pokémon GO.

During the Hatchathon event you can find special hat-wearing Pokémon from certain eggs. Specifically, Wurmple and Pichu wearing party hats can emerge from 2km and 7 km eggs.

In two-star raids you’ll be able to find Raticate and Wobbuffet sporting party hats, while wild hat-wearing Pikachu can be found in the wild. And all of the hat-wearing pokémon have a rare chance of appearing as their shiny variants.

Hatching during the event will also grant double the candy and stardust. If you manage to walk 50 km before the event ends, you’ll earn a whopping 50,000 stardust, 15 rare candies, and a Unova Stone.

Adventure Sync is an option that was added in 2018. It must be turned on in the settings menu of Pokémon GO. Doing so allows the game to track your steps using your phone’s built-in pedometer, without having the battery-draining app open, and makes hatching eggs way easier.

The Adventure Sync Hatchathon ends January 16 at 1 pm Pacific/4 pm Eastern.

In other January Pokémon GO news, more Unova generation Pokémon will be coming to Pokémon GO soon. Heatran will appear in five-star raids between Jan. 7 and Feb. 4, and special Research Breakthroughs can lead to catching a Lapras that knows Ice Shard and Ice Beam, from now until Feb. 1.
