Dragon Quest Builders 2 is launching next week, Dec. 10, on PC (Steam). But if you’d like to try before you buy, Square Enix has released a free Jumbo Demo, which my brain keeps trying to pronounce as Jumbo Dumbo. It’s not an elephant, it’s a demo.

The Jumbo Demo allows players to customize their character and explore and build through the first three areas of the game: the tutorial, the Isle of Awakening, and a large portion of Furrowfield Island. Any save progress made during the demo will transfer into the full PC version should you choose to purchase it on Dec. 10.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is the sequel to the 2016 original, which combines the colorful RPG monsters of Dragon Quest with the building blocks and townsfolk of a crafting game such as Minecraft. The sequel, which launched earlier this year on PlayStation 4 and Switch, added co-op multiplayer to the series for the first time.

The PC version includes mouse and keyboard controls, as well as all three DLC packs that have been released on consoles. If you purchase Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Steam before January 6, you will receive the following bonus in-game content:

  • Medicinal Herb Decoration
  • Dragon Quest Logo Decoration
  • Chimaera Wing Decoration
  • Sigil Blocks
  • Lo-Res Luminary Recipes
  • Legendary Line Art Recipe

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is available on PlayStation 4 and Switch, and launching Dec. 10 on PC (Steam). It’s rated E10+.
