Independent games are often crowded out of the spotlight by bigger games. But some of these independent games are fantastic. The Independent Games Festival tries to bring some much-needed attention to some of the great work done in indie games. They’ve just announced their finalists for the 18th annual awards.

The winners of the IGF Awards will be announced at a ceremony taking place place on Wednesday, March 16 at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center. Nathan Vella, co-founder and president of Capybara Games, will host. The Game Developers Choice Awards, which recognizes the best games of the year across game development categories, will be following immediately thereafter.

Winners will receive over $50,000 of prizes, including the $30,000 Seumas McNally Grand Prize.

Attendees will also be able to play the games chosen and speak with devs at the IGF Pavilion during the Game Developers Conference (March 16 to March 18), and will get the chance to take part in the Independent Games Summit (March 14 to March 15) for networking and learning opportunities.

You can watch both the IGF Awards and the Game Devleopers Choice Awards via livestream on Twitch.
