The 10th season of Battle Royale action game Fortnite kicks off today on all platforms. Fortnite Season X is subtitled “Out of Time” and features a cyberpunk, neon sc-fi theme in its new 100-item Battle Pass. Watch the new story trailer above, and the Season X battle pass overview video below.
The biggest new feature of Season X is the B.R.U.T.E., a gigantic two-person mech vehicle. One player controls movement while the other unleashes its impressive firepower, including a shotgun and missile launcher. A solo player could try and pilot both by switching back and forth.
Season X also adds Rift Zones. Formerly lost or changed points of interest on the map are beginning to return, though not without some odd quirks. Each of these zones seem to have its own special rules in place, such as no building.
You should know the drill with the Battle Pass by now: for 950 v-bucks you can begin unlocking 100 cosmetic rewards, earned through playing. Get a head start 25-tier head start with the Battle Bundle (2,800 v-bucks).
New this season is the ability to gift the Battle Pass to a friend, though only until August 15.
Over on Fortnite Creative, Season X adds the ability to make your own Limited Time Mode (LTM) such as Junkyard Juke and Sky Station Showdown.
In the Save the World mode, players are tasked to hit the road and assist Quinn in broadcasting the Song of Summer. You’ll need to escort and protect Quinn during the mission, as she travels in a hover-truck with its own mobile storm defense shield.
Season X also adds the locker to Save the World, letting players share their Emotes, Music Packs, and Loading Screens they’ve earned in Battle Royale. More cosmetics are planned to be added to Save the World in the future.
Fortnite is available on PC (Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices. It’s rated T for Teen.
