North Star Games has announced a release date for the long-awaited digital version of their 2014 tabletop card game, Evolution. It’s coming to PC (Steam, Mac) and Mobile (iOS, Android) on Feb. 12, 2019.

In Evolution players create and customize their own species using trait cards. Every turn they compete for dwindling resources, combining traits like Long Neck, Foraging, and Defensive Herding to secure as much food (victory points) as possible. Carnivore traits will change your strategy entirely, as you have to navigate through other players’ species and defenses to feed – or even your own.

The digital version features a hands-on tutorial, a solo campaign mode against varying scenarios and AI strategies, and local and online multiplayer. Online gameplay will support cross-platform multiplayer between PC and mobile.

The digital game is being developed by an internal development studio, North Star Digital Studios.

“The original Evolution tabletop game has developed a fanatical following among players since its release in 2014,” said Scott Rencher, president and co-founder of North Star Digital Studios. “With the Evolution video game, we’ve gone all out to make this not just a great board game adaptation, but a fantastic strategy video game in its own right.”

On Steam Evolution will launch with a $14.99 price tag. The mobile version will launch as a free-to-try app. You can then unlock the full version of the game for $9.99. During launch week it will be available with a 20% off discount.
