RedOctane has pulled the curtain back on post-launch DLC plans for rhythm game, Stage Tour. Stage Tour will release on December 10 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
The current DLC plan is to release four “new major content expansions” every year. These DLC expansions will include new music, characters, experiences, and customization options. For example, a single expansion could include over a dozen new songs, new stage venues, and new characters, outfits, and instruments, all set to a specific theme.
Song packs and individual tracks will be available separately as well. Extra tracks will remain available for purchase through their licensing period, which is typically 10 years. “We’re not planning limited-time purchase windows where songs or events are available for a few weeks and then gone. Our goal is to build an expanding catalog of music and content that players can explore and purchase whenever they’re ready.”
Any new gameplay features will not be locked behind expansions, but will arrive as free updates alongside the expansion.
RedOctane also provided an update on shipping. The good news is, the game is looking quite popular. The bad news is, the new hardware is quite popular as well! Although the game launches on December 10, hardware pre-orders have “exceeded our expectations.”
Drum kits and band bundles have already filled the initial launch shipping window. The initial estimated shipping window is between December 1-10. Orders will then take up to 10 business days to arrive.
Any new pre-orders for the Drum Kits and bundles with drums will ship in the next wave, between December 11-31. Game + Guitar bundles are still available for the initial launch shipping window of December 1 – 10. Pre-orders are available through Stagetour.com and major retailers such as Amazon, Target, Walmart, and GameStop.
Stage Tour is a Guitar Hero and Rock Band successor, with players following music tracks and playing the notes on instrument controllers (or regular controllers). The game will launch with over 90 songs, most of which have been previously announced. The game officially launches on December 10.
