Ubisoft has released the Discovery Tour App: AlUla, a free, educational spin-off of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The App is free to download on iOS and Android mobile devices, and accessible on browsers.
The Discovery Tour App transports users to AlUla, Saudia Arabia, the setting of the Valley of Memory DLC from Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Through interactive gameplay and storytelling, users learn about the historical location, from its unique architecture and natural landmarks, to daily life.
In the Access Codex, browse encyclopedic entries on history and heritage of the ancient city. Entries are accompanied by pictures of real-life artifacts, and players can view some with 3D Augmented Reality.
Players can also explore AlUla through a gamified, mission-based journey, with a runtime of about 90 minutes. Gain knowledge, then use that knowledge to complete missions and decipher an ancient inscription.
In the Enter Chronology section, players can view a timeline of AlUla’s historical time period, which dates back to prehistorical ages.
Fans of Mirage can also download the Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad for explore the setting of the main game, 9th century Baghdad.
Mirage isn’t the first Assassin’s Creed game to get the educational treatment. The Discovery Tours began with Assassin’s Creed Origin and the exploration of Ancient Egypt in 2018. Since then, Ubisoft has released educational companion tours for Ancient Greece (AC: Odyssey), and the Viking Age (AC: Valhalla).
Beginning with Medieval Baghdad, the Discovery Tours are also available via free mobile apps. The tours from Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla are included in their games, or can be purchased separately.
For fans of the Assassin’s Creed series, the Discovery Tours are a great way to learn more about the real-world history and locations that inspire the games.
