UK-based developer and publisher, Frontier Developments, has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Disney to “develop and publish a new game which will draw on Disney’s iconic portfolio of IP.”
The press release cites Frontier’s extensive experience in a single specific genre: Creative Management Simulation. Also known as the park sim genre, which includes Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution, all of which feature at least one sequel.
The announcement doesn’t mention any details about the forthcoming game, and it may be way too early to know given the licensing.
But here are the facts: Frontier makes park simulators. Disney has massive, super-popular theme parks based on their explosive IP.
Is it safe to presume that Frontier will be working on a theme park sim where we can build, design, and run our own Disney theme parks?

Frontier has been on a big run of sequels in the last few years. Their next game is Planet Zoo 2. The sequel to 2019’s well-received zoo sim is releasing on October 13 on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Last year they released Jurassic World Evolution 3, another entry in the officially licensed dinosaur theme park sim series, and it’s quite good. An all-new game in the Planet series is also in development.
