Prolific indie publisher TinyBuild and developer Mandragora (I Am Future) are celebrating the success of ReStory. ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is a cute and cozy job sim game that sold 100,000 copies in its first day, alongside an Overwhelmingly Positive (91%) user rating on Steam.

ReStory is a narrative-driven shop sim set in mid-2000s Tokyo, Japan. Players run a small electronics repair shop, where they clean, repair, and customize customers’ gear from that era, including early mobile phones, off-brand Sega Dreamcasts, laptops, cameras, handheld consoles, virtual pets, and more.

The developers also scored the license to use official Atari-brand consoles for cleaning and restoration.

Restoration requires multiple tools and tasks, as well as gathering the right parts, which could include ordering rare parts online.

Each customer offers a unique storyline with its own dialogue, and the game features different storylines, choices, and endings. The anime-inspired art and chill vibes have also been heavily praised.

ReStory is still available with a 10% launch discount ($17.99) through August 20. A digital artbook is available for $4.99, while the chill, lo-fi soundtrack is coming soon.

Mandragora’s previous game, I Am Future, is similarly praised as a cozy take on an apocalyptic farm sim.
