During The Game Awards, Batman himself introduced a new trailer for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, and revealed the release date. Legacy of the Dark Knight will release on May 29, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S (Switch 2 release date still to come).

Legacy of the Dark Knight aims to be the ultimate Lego Batman game, following the previous three Lego Batman games (plus DC Super-Villains spinoff). It features an open-world Gotham City, and plays homage to all the different incarnations of Batman over the years, including 90s live action, the various animated series, the beloved Christopher Nolan trilogy, and beyond.

Batman is joined by all his allies, including Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Catwoman, each with their own unique abilities and equipment. Villains include Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Bane, and The Joker. Plus, over 20 vehicles and 100 different Batsuits and outfits from across the Bat-verse.

The main story follows Bruce Wayne’s origins from training with the League of Shadows, to becoming the hero of Gotham City and forging his found family, while battling an increase array of powerful Super-Villains.

The Deluxe Edition includes the Legacy Collection and the Mayhem Collection. The Legacy Collection is available at launch, and includes over 30 different in-game items in three packs: the Arkham Trilogy Pack, Batman Beyond Pack, and Party Music Pack, featuring alternate suits, and an exclusive Batmobile.

The Mayhem Collection includes a new Story Mission featuring The Joker and Harley Quinn as playable characters. Plus a Mayhem Mode featuring the two villains, and the Sinister Pack, with more suits, Batcave props, and a new Batmobile design. The Mayhem Collection will release September 2026.

The Deluxe Edition also includes an early access pre-order bonus. Players who pre-order will get to start playing on May 26, three days before the main launch.

All pre-orders of any edition will also receive The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has not yet been rated by the ESRB, but previous Lego Batman games (and pretty much all Lego action games) are rated E10+.
