The Game Awards 2025 showcased an avalanche of exciting new game trailers, updates, and world premieres, from Mega Man to Star Wars and Tomb Raider, and completely new games from beloved developers, such as Highguard and Divinity.

While The Game Awards is a fun time for the industry to get together and celebrate the best games of the year (hello, Clair Obscur!)— it’s also a day of big game announcements!

Join us for our quick rundown of the biggest new game announcements at The Game Awards 2025.

Bradley the Badger

I love a trailer that just gets crazier and crazier as it goes, and that’s certainly true of Bradley the Badger. The indie platformer acts a meta-commentary on gaming with funny writing, and the titular character played by Evan Peters as he’s stuck in the development hell of his own video game.

Release: TBA

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred

Lord of Hatred is not a new game, but Blizzard Entertainment always puts out huge, quality expansions, and we expect no different for this second big expansion to 2023’s Diablo 4. The expansion continues the post-game story of Mephisto, Lord of Hatred, and the return of the fan-favorite Paladin class.

Release: April 28, 2025

Divinity

The shocking Divinity cinematic trailer (which was preceded by some impressive theatrical acrobatics on-stage) certainly wins my award for most gruesome and disturbing — yet all the more compelling! Larian Studios, beloved RPG developers of Baldur’s Gate 3, are returning to their signature Divinity series. The only thing we know is that Larian claimed it’s their biggest and most ambitious RPG to date.

Release: TBA

Forest 3

First-person survival-horror game The Forest was a breakout indie hit in 2018, spawning a sequel in 2024. Forest 3 takes a sharp sci-fi turn, as players crash land on a remote alien planet filled with creepy human-like creatures.

Release: TBA

Gang of Dragon

The debut game from Nagoshi Studio, former by former Sega chief creative officer Toshihiro Nagoshi, is Gang of Dragon, a Tokyo-based action game that looks more serious, but just as action-packed as the Yakuza series that Nagoshi is known for.

Release: TBA

Highguard

The big reveal and final announcement trailer at The Game AWards 2025 went to Highguard, the debut multiplayer action game from Wildlight Entertainment, which features key developers from Respawn (Apex Legends, Titanfall). Highguard is a PvP raid shooter that blends fantasy and sci-fi elements, from horseback riding to magic spells and modern guns, and it’ll be free-to-play when it launches in January, 2026.

Release: January 26, 2026 (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S)

Mega Man Dual Override

Good news: Capcom announced a fancy new side-scrolling Mega Man game at The Game Awards! Less than good news: it comes with a 2027 release window. But hey, 2027 also marks the 40th anniversary of the Mega Man franchise. Oof, my bones.

Release: 2027

Star Wars Galactic Racer

Like fine wine, The Phantom Menace somehow gets better with age, and pod racing continues to make excellent video game material. So sayeth Fuse Games, who are developing Galactic Racer. However, instead of rehashing the prequels, Galactic Racer is set after the fall of the Empire, where a new illegal racing circuit has formed the more dangerous Galactic League.

Release: 2026

Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic

Star Wars fans be eating good right now: a new pod racing game is one thing, but a new RPG set in the Old Republic era? And it’s helmed by Knights of the Old Republic director and former BioWare alum Casey Hudson? While Fate of the Old Republic is a spiritual successor, expect an all-new story and cast of characters in this unique ancient history era of Star Wars.

Release: TBA

Tomb Raider Catalyst

The Game Awards 2025 revealed two new Tomb Raider games. First is Legacy of Atlantis, a full remake and reboot of the original Tomb Raider (1996), built in Unreal Engine 5, and launching in 2026. The second is Tomb Raider: Catalyst, an all-new game that looks to follow the more recent Survivor trilogy, and set in India.

Release: 2027 (2026 for Legacy of Atlantis)

Total War: Warhammer 40,000

Actor David Harbour took the stage to introduce the next entry in the Total War real-time strategy series — Total War: Warhammer 40,000. The Total War series has previously used Warhammer (the fantasy setting), but this is its first foray into the more popular sci-fi setting. The large-scale RTS will feature four factions: Space Marines, Orks, Aeldari, and AStra Militarum.

Release: TBA

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons

A new Dungeons & Dragons video game was announced at The Game Awards, starring Tricia Helfer. Don’t necessarily expect a party-based RPG a la Baldur’s Gate, however, as the developers at Invoke studios have conformed it’s a third-person, single player action-adventure game. Full gameplay reveal is coming Summer 2026, with a 2027 release window.

Release: 2027

The Game Awards 2025 streamed live on December 11.
