It’s time to Return to Beast’s Castle with the new Disney Dreamlight Valley update, adding new Villagers, a new Seasonal Star Path with spooky rewards, new Premium shop items and bundles, and some nice improvements to the Photo Mode.
If you can’t tell by the title of the update, this season’s new Villagers are from an old Realm: Beauty & The Beast! Players must first have unlocked the Realm, and have welcomed Belle and The Beast into their Valley, before receiving the new quest.
The new quest will arrive via the in-game mailbox from The Beast. He’ll ask players to return to his castle to search for Lumiere and Cogsworth. But the Castle is having problems of its own. By completing the challenge, players can welcome the duo into the Valley.
Like Timon and Pumbaa last year, both sidekicks are full-featured Villagers, with their own Friendship Quests and rewards.
The update also adds a new Seasonal Star Path, called “Witchful Thinking.” Star Path rewards include new clothing, furniture, and decorative items themed around Halloween and spooky vibes — including an awesome magic spellbook glider!
New Premium Shop items include a Witchy Kitty companion, and the very first Dream Castle skin, the Halloween Castle. If it sells well, I presume it will be the first of many Dream Castle skins to come.
Also in the Premium Shop is a new Dream Bundle: Once Upon a Dance. The bundle unlocks Belle and The Beast’s iconic ballgown outfits. It also unlocks a unique interaction that occurs whenever they meet in the Valley.
We’re also getting two spooky events. First is the returning annual event, Rick or Treat. Starting Oct 15, players can find candy buckets in the Plaza and collect candy. Candy can then be used to craft special candy buckets. Plus, candy-based tasks that unlock unique Jack ‘O Lanterns.
The new event is the Haunting Floating Festival. Starting October 22, players can visit this unique floating island full of puzzles. By completing the island in stages, players can unlock exclusive rewards.
Trick or Treat ends October 31, while the Floating Festival will stick around until November 11.
Plus, new items in the Scrooge Store, and new improvements to Photo Mode, including more tool poses, phone poses, and a helpful Night Thorn toggle. See the full patch notes here.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox, and rated E for Everyone.
