Gearbox Software and 2K have released highly anticipated co-op shooter Borderlands 4 on PC (Steam, Epic), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The Switch 2 version is dropping on October 3.

Also, hot dang is the new cinematic trailer all kinds of awesome!

Borderlands 4 takes players to the new planet of Kairos. For a series first, the planet is an open world with multiple regions, factions, villains, and fan-favorite returning characters. Players can discover open world events and side missions, and summon their own Digirunner vehicle.

Four new playable Vault Hunters are available at launch: Harlowe, the gadget-based gravitar, Amon, the medieval weapon-master, Rafa, the exo-suit soldier, and Vex, the mystical siren. Borderlands is also all about the randomized guns, and the fourth installment promises billions (with an ‘s’) of gun combinations, with mix-and-match manufacturer parts.

And it wouldn’t be Borderlands without co-op support. Up to four players can party together with online co-op, as well as splitscreen between two local players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox. Borderlands 4 includes cross-platform play, dynamic level scaling, and individualized difficulty.

“On September 12, Borderlands 4 puts the mayhem back into the hands of the fans – the people who made Borderlands a worldwide phenomenon,” said Randy Pitchford, founder and CEO, Gearbox Software. “Borderlands has always been a wild ride we at Gearbox take with our fans, and with Borderlands 4 we’ve given everything we’ve got to make it the biggest and best game we have ever created.”

Borderlands 4 is available in Standard, Deluxe, and Super Deluxe editions. The Deluxe Edition ($99.99) includes the Bounty Pack Bundle, a season pass wroth of post-launch DLC packs that will add new areas, missions, and bosses, along with some other in-game goodies.

The Super Deluxe Edition ($129.99) also includes the Vault Hunter Pack, with two additional post-launch DLCs that add new stories, side missions, map regions, and a new playable Vault Hunter each.

Borderlands 4 is rated M for Mature.
